Livorno despite being damaged badly in WW2 has a nice relatively modern town centre along with an interesting port area and elegant southern sea shore suburbs. Culturally it does not have the cachet of Lucca or Sienna but it was the home town of Modigliani the painter and Mascagni of Cavalleria Rusticana fame.
